I cannot open the adobe acrobat program on my computer

I have downloaded adobe acrobat pro after purchasing the program. Now when I try to open it on my desk top it will not even move. I have tried every way to open it but it still wont work. I have even uninstalled the program and reinstalled it. Am I missing anything or not doing anything right for this to happen?

    I had a similar program. I ran the .exe file from the page linked below and it worked like magic. It took 30 seconds after a week of frustration.
