I do not know how to apply the plist file on macOS. Basically I do not know how to unzip the contents to the desktop! Can anyone advise please?
Can anyone tell me how to unzip the contents of a plist file to the desktop on macOS please?

Plist files are not ZIP files. If you genuinely have just a plist there is nothing to unzip. Perhaps you could tell us exactly where you got this file (I think you assume we know which one you mean), so that we can advise you what to do next.
