I had to reinstall Acrobat - but now I can't open a pdf
If I click on a pdf after a google search, instead of opening the file, I get redirected to a "Save As" folder
Something must have happened during the re-install.

Which browser are you using ?
The issue is occuring because eith your PDF Viewer plug-in has been disabled or you have not installed Adobe Reader/Acrobat on your machine.
To Enable the PDF Plugin, please go to google and check for how to enable plugin because there are different steps to do it for different browsers.
