Question

I have a large PDF with three columns of data. When using the online tool to convert to excel only the first two data columns show up, the third dropped.

The PDF has the following format

Header details (Name, Company...)

Age (Days)           Number of Files Total             File Size (Bytes)
0                           756720                                   207151879824
1                           781684                                   180313774430
2                           342848                                   50697180555
3                           865265                                   370838683691
4                           972391                                   267224684390
5                           1033186                                 284175829783

I ran the same test on a smaller PDF file and it worked fine.

    Hi Eager_daydream0660,

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry for the trouble caused.

As mentioned, the issue occurs with a specific PDF. Could you please share the steps used to create this PDF and provide the file so we can investigate?

Please refer to the steps suggested here:

As only third column is being dropped when you convert your PDF to Excel, Please try the following suggestions:

    • Try converting the PDF using the desktop version of Adobe Acrobat, if available, rather than only the online converter. Adobe Acrobat supports PDF-to-Excel conversion and provides additional conversion settings. Refer to the informtion here: Convert files to PDFs
    • If the problem occurs only with this particular PDF, try extracting a few affected pages into a separate PDF and converting that smaller file. This can help determine whether the issue is related to the document's size or the layout/content on particular pages.
    • Check whether the third column is visually separated consistently from the second column throughout the PDF. Complex layouts or irregular spacing can affect how tabular information is interpreted during conversion.
    • After conversion, also check the resulting Excel workbook for additional worksheets or columns in case some content has been placed elsewhere.

Let us know how it goes.

    Thanks,

    Meenakshi
