i'm sorry, but up to a year ago i could easily convert a "Word" file into a PDF without spending any money. why can't i do that now?

why isn't it free?

not even online?

i don't understand.

I'm not sure what you were using to convert your Word files to PDF a year ago, but if you want to use Adobe PDF Pack to convert your Word files to PDF, you will need to subscribe.
