my adobe icon appears on bar, i can hover and see thumbnail of the document but when I double click does NOT OPEN. When I download it also does NOT automatically open like before

My abobe icon appears on the bar, I can hover over icon and see thumbnail of the opened document but I cannot click on the image to see it on the full screen.  Also, when I download it shows as thumbnail of open document when I hover but it does NOT automatically open like before
