Outlining a text field in properties; not applying

This should be easy, but I can not add an outline around a text field.

The line thickness, in properties/appearance is greyed out. Why is this?

I figured out to uncheck the transparency. This was the problem, solved.

When you say outlining a text field, do you mean the rectangle outline of the text field? It would be helpful if you could share a screenshot.

Also, share the screenshot of the option you refer to as greyed out.

Share the Acrobat and OS versions.

Please check if it is an issue while working with a particular PDF or with all PDFs.
