Printing to Adobe pdf

Before I downloaded the Adobe InDesign program yesterday I was able to print docs to Adobe pdf instead of printing on paper. Now it prints to Adobe InDesign. I need to change it back to Adobe Acrobat Pro 9. I'm using a PC Windows Vista. Can you help me with this?

    Hi Cheri20003,

If I understand correctly, you were able to "print" files to PDF until you installed InDesign? I'm not clear on what you mean by "it prints to InDesign." Can you clarify that for me by telling me what steps you're taking, and what the outcome is?

Are you able to create PDF files from any applications at this point? What happens when you try? Is the issue that you're printing to PDF, but it looks like you've created InDesign files, rather than PDF files?

Sorry to ask so many questions, but I need a bit more information to understand the problem that you're encountering.

I've always gone to "file, print, adobe pdf", and it would pull it up in my acrobat pro program. But now when I do the exact same thing, it tries to pull it up in Adobe InDesign and gives me a message of not being able to recognize or convert (can't remember which) in Adobe InDesign. Not sure why that print link was changed when I installed the InDesign. If you can help I would be grateful!

Ah, that clear things up a bit! It sounds like the file associations may be confused on your system (that is, Windows thinks that InDesign is the correct application for opening PDF files). Please try the steps in this document to reset the file association for PDF files, and let me know how it goes: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/change-file-open-program#1TC=windows-vista
