Simple text and numbers clearly typed are garbled and very difficult to edt.  What's wrong with the program.

Hi HPCigar,

Are you using the ExportPDF online service to convert a PDF file to Excel or Word? If so, do you know how that PDF was created (for examle, was it created from a scanned document)? The quality of the PDF (not necessarily how it looks onscreen, but how it's written to standards by the source application) determines how well it converts. It may be that it doesn't contain the proper information for ensure a clean conversion.

You may get a better conversion by disabling OCR as described in this document: How to disable Optical Character Recognition (O... | Adobe Community (but note, that solution isn't optimal for a PDF that was created from a scanned document and doesn't already include searchable text).

Sara

Dear Sara,

Thank you for getting back to me.  I have attached as 1234 Test, the document I began with for the scan and  25306 as the product received out of the Adobe Export PDF

program.  Now to me the original document looks pretty straight forward hence my displeasure with what the program reproduced as editable text.  The 1234 Test document

is what we get via fax from our supplier.

As a lumber trading company we receive document from vendors with information our customers need to check in their shipments.  What they do not need is to know

our sources. Therefore I bought the program so I could edit out the information they do not need and substitute it with our information.  Customers would simply

contact our sources directly if we provided them with all of the mill information and we would be out of a job if we did not convert files to our format.

Let me know if there is anything I can do to fix this.  As you can see from the Adobe version there is more work to fix that document than in typing another by hand in word

or excel to send to the cusotmer.  We are trying to make the best use of our time here and so far it's not worked consistently well converting to Word or Excel although

converting to Word does seem to produce less errors than to Excel.

Sincerely,

Hayden

Hi Hayden,

The forums don't accept file attachments. Look for a private message from me—I'll send you my contact info so that you can send them directly to me.
