Radio Button Selections Disappearing After Saving

Help I am making fillable forms for a client.
Some of this input content has to be radio buttons because the client should only be allowed to select one- geographies / titles etc.
When saving the pdf, these selections disappear. Please help ? 
I can't dictate which reader they use to fill this. So can't tell them to use adobe reader or such.
