Sharepoint integration doesn't work

Hello,

 

For the past week, SharePoint integration in Adobe Acrobat has not been working.

After investigating, I noticed that this was linked to the cookie in Microsoft Edge. When I connect to the SharePoint site, no cookie is created in the "C:\Users\X\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache" directory.

By using Edge's compatibility mode to run the page in Internet Explorer mode, cookies are created and the SharePoint integration works again.

Would you have an idea how to solve this problem without having to activate Edge compatibility mode?

    Hello,

     

    After several weeks of research, I have finally found the solution to the problem. SharePoint does not allow applications that do not use modern authentication, which was blocking the connection.

    To address this issue, I had to permit non-authenticated applications to connect to SharePoint.

     

    1. Under Admin centers select SharePoint.
    2. Expand the Policies section then select Access Control.
    3. Select Apps that don't use modern authentication
    4. Select the radio button for Allow.
    5. Click OK.

    This issue stems from Adobe Acrobat’s reliance on legacy Internet Explorer-based cookie handling for SharePoint integration.

    Try these fixes:

    1. Enable Modern Authentication in Acrobat:
      Add this registry key to force Acrobat to use updated auth methods:

    1. Install or Update Microsoft Edge WebView2:
      Download the latest WebView2 runtime from Microsoft. Acrobat is gradually switching to it for modern browser compatibility.

    2. Clear Windows Credentials & Acrobat Cache:
      Old or corrupted credentials can block cookie creation. Clear saved credentials via Credential Manager, then restart Acrobat.

    3. Use Internet Options to Allow Cookies:
      Go to Control Panel > Internet Options > Privacy, and ensure cookies aren’t being blocked for SharePoint domains.

    Alternative Tip:
    To skip browser dependency issues entirely, use Kernel Migration for SharePoint. It connects directly to SharePoint, ensuring smooth integration without cookie errors or browser mode workarounds.

    This issue is due to Adobe Acrobat relying on legacy Internet Explorer components for SharePoint integration.

    Fix Options:

    1. Enable Edge IE Mode (Temporary Fix):
      As you mentioned, this works—but it’s not ideal long-term.

    2. Set Acrobat to Use Modern Authentication:
      Update Acrobat and enable modern authentication in the Adobe Admin Console or via registry:

    When you say Sharepoint integration in Adobe Acrobat is not working, what do you mean by that? Do you get any error messages, or you don't get the option to open the PDFs? Please share more information.

    Does this happen only with the MS Edge browser? 

    It would be helpful if you could share your workflow and what is not working. 

    We will share the information with the team to further investigate the issue.

    Could you please try removing the account and then relaunching the Acrobat? Then reconfigure the account. Check if you experience the same behavior.
