Text overlaps other text and covers page number

Question

I am using Acrobat Pro to edit an existing PDF document. If I add text, I find lines that have overlapped, as if one or two lines are typed over the lines below. Also, if several lines are added, the text at the bottom covers the page number. I'm far from being computer savvy and would appreciated suggestions for a computer dummy. Thanks.

Please confirm if you are using the desktop application to edit the PDF. It would be helpful if you could share the screenshot to better understand what is happening.

Check if the issue occurs with a particular file or with any file you open.

Are you editing a scanned PDF? More information would be helpful.
