Trying to Use an Upgrade (pdf to docx)

Just bought program to upgrade Adobe so as to be able to save pdf files in other formats.  Cannot seem to get started.  Have a file uploaded from email in my adobe product but cannot seem to save it properly.  Keeps asking me to by the upgrade which I already have.  Any help here?
