Unable to convert PDF with the name report.pdf using Export PDF service on web or in Adobe Reader

When using the Export PDF service on acrobat.adobe.com or in Adobe Acrobat Reader to convert a file with the name file name "report.pdf" to any format, it fails with the error message "An error has occurred which stopped the processing of the PDF.". Screenshot attached.

If the file is renamed to anything else, even something like "report1.pdf", it is able to be exported.

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry about the trouble caused. 

 

As the issue occurs with a particular PDF, please share the PDF with us. We will check the file and share more information.

Also, in the meantime, check if the issue occurs with other PDFs.

Hi Meenakshi, 

 

You can rename any PDF file to report.pdf and it will not convert. If you change the name to anything else, such as report1.pdf, it will convert.

 

I have performed a test by creating a Word doc, saving it as a PDF, then trying to convert the PDF to another format with Adobe Export PDF.

When the file name is report.pdf, Adobe Export PDF fails to convert. If I change the file name to report1.pdf, it converts OK.

 

You can see the files attached.

'report.docx' is the test file I made.

'report.pdf' is the docx saved as a pdf from Word.

'report1.pdf' is a copy of 'report.pdf' that has been renamed.

'report screenshot.png' is a screenshot of the error message that shows when trying to convert with Adobe Export PDF.

'report1 screenshot.pdf' is a screenshot showing that it does convert with Adobe Export PDF when the file name is changed to anything other than just "report.pdf".

 

This appears to be a bug/limitation on the Adobe server. We have been using this feature with the same file name for quite some time and it is taking much more time to rename the file every time we need to convert it.

Thank you for your patience so far, and sorry about the delayed response.

 

We checked the files you shared and created a PDF with the name mentioned. However, the issue is not reproducible on our end. The file converted without any problems both on the desktop and Acrobat Online account.

Could you please try again and check if you get the error? Try the new incognito window on Chrome.
