Question

Which Adobe software do I need?

Good day... I recently purchased my first MacBook Pro, and am in a service class where I have to download service documentation (schematics, flow-charts, etc), from CD to my Mac.  Problem is, I can't seem to view some of these docs, as they were intended to be viewed and manipulated..i.e., they have built-in links to other portions of the docs, to reference items in more detail, etc.  I'm wondering if there is a particular version of Adobe that would allow me to utilize these service docs, as they were intended, without resorting to using a PC.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Al

    Hi alfrompittsburgh,

What format are the files that you're downloading? Are they PDFs (you can tell by looking at the filename extension). If they're PDFs and you need to manipulate them, Acrobat is what you want. If you just need to view the PDF files (follow the built-in links, or zoom in), you can do that with the free Adobe Reader software.

    Best,

    Sara

Hi Sara and thank you for your reply!

I should have mentioned, these are .pdf files that I’m trying to view/navigate. So do I just need Adobe Reader, or something with more versatility?

It really depends on what you want to do to those PDFs. If you need to edit text, add hyperlinks, and so on, get Acrobat. If it's just a matter of viewing or commenting on the PDFs, the free Reader is sufficient.

For more information about Acrobat, see www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html.
