why aren't fonts embedded in the source document embedded in the converted document?

I have a series of Word 97 .doc files laid out with text and tables using various fonts, all embedded in the .doc file. After conversion all the fonts but one display properly, but the layout is different to the original, which makes it unusable. The font not included (and there is no error message) is a chess font and is embedded in the word file. After conversion, because the chess font is not embedded in the pdf file, the chess diagrams don't display properly. They are also sometimes split over pages, whereas in the original document, the layout  is correct.

What am I doing wrong? Or am I expecting too much of this service?

I can convert to pdf correctly using Word itself, and it converts properly, but ... I need press quality, hence trying this service.

Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks.

Hi brians,

I doubt you're doing anything wrong. Some fonts have licensing that prevents them from being embedded. Where did you get the font that's not embedding properly?

Best,

Sara
