why do I keep getting a "access denied" when I want to add a text?

I have downloaded a document and wanting to add text also check marks, which I normally do in the past and seem to can't do it this time.

Please let us know the dot version of Adobe application and OS you are using.

If this is the issue with a particular PDF, make sure that the PDF is not secured. Check document properties.
