word document text colors are not show as colors in PDF

I am converting a word document that contains colored text to a PDF.  The conversion process yields black text only.  Where is the setup function that allows the pdf to show colored text?  Thanks.

    What are you using to convert the Word document to PDF? (And are you using Mac OS or Windows?)
