Question

Adobe Express - does it work well for you?

I just tried Adobe Express for the first time on an InDesign file meant for pdf distribution and when the file opened up in my browser, (after making selections),  it was really messed up; weird colors, missing text and a lot of other errors, which would take a number of hours to correct. I chose to make a presentation of my portfolio from the indd file. It has quite a few images and text and background information, and while I see that I can edit the document online, why would I want to? It was already fine the way it was. I also note that layers were made, but have nothing to do with the original layers in the indd file and it made way more layers than necessary. I also can't find a way to delete the uploaded file.

So, who uses Adobe Express and what do you use it for? Very interested to see how others view this feature.

Working on a Mac, OS 14.6.1, from InDesign 20205.0

Hi @KTA6,

Thanks for reaching out! We're sorry to hear about this. To better understand the issue, could you please answer a few questions below-

  1. When you saw the color and text issues, were they consistent on every page or just certain ones?
  2. Do the extra layers seem tied to your original objects, or are they completely unrelated?
  3. Which browser were you using when opening it in Adobe Express — and have you tried another browser or incognito mode to see if it displays differently?

We're here to help, just need some info.

Regards,

Tarun

Hi Tarun. Nearly every page had some color shift - especially with any objects that have transparency applied to them. Again, the layers created have zero to do with the original layers in the .indd file. For example in .indd, all my text is on one layer called Text. In Express it seems that every text box is now its own layer.
I exported the file again, just now, and received this error; "Verson 4 IC Profiles were converted to version 2 ICC Profiles during Express Export". Not sure why that is, but there may be the issue.
I'm using Firefox 141.0.3 - I'm not sure how to change that when I click on Export to Adobe Express, unless I make some other browser my default. I'm on a Mac, but I don't use Safari all that much, as many sites I go to don't support it. As far as incognito mode, I have no idea what that is or how to use it.
I've seen the Express option before, but never used it, so I thought I'd try. Now that I have, I can't see any reason for it. From .indd, I can save it any number of ways that gets me to the final distribution format necessary. So, I'll ask again, "Does it work well for you?", and "What do you use it for?"
At present I see no real use for this feature, especially since it seems very buggy. I welcome you to change my mind.
