Adobe Express line and letters spacing

Hi All 🙂
I am new to AE. I am trying to find out how to change the spacing, but I cannot. I saw many tutorials and all these people have this tool but my premium version doesn't. Does Adobe discontinue this tool?

All the best
Jacek

Hey @full pose, Thanks for the screenshot!! The feature you're referring to, 'Line or Letter Spacing,' is available in the Adobe Express app across all devices. You just need to select the text and on the left side panel select the 'Text Spacing' option (please refer to the screenshot).

If you're still unable to find this feature, please share the device type you're using (Mobile, tablet, or desktop), the OS of the device, and the browser if it is on the desktop. We'd need these for further investigation.

Best,

Amitej

Replies in this thread have been about both Adobe After Effects and Adobe Express. Your post is now in the Express forum.

Can you please confirm which of the two applications you are using?

Don’t worry—the spacing tool hasn’t been removed. In Adobe After Effects, you can adjust spacing through the Character panel, which lets you control tracking (space between letters) and leading (space between lines). If you don’t see the panel, go to Window > Character to enable it.

Keep in mind that spacing options depend on the tool you’re using. Make sure the Text tool is selected and your text layer is active—otherwise, the options won’t appear. Your premium version still includes this feature; you just need to open the correct panel.

The spacing tool hasn’t been discontinued, so don’t worry. In Adobe After Effects, spacing is usually adjusted through the Character panel, where you can control tracking (space between letters) and leading (space between lines). If you don’t see it, go to Window > Character to enable the panel.

Sometimes it also depends on which tool you’re using. Make sure the Text tool is selected and your text layer is active—otherwise, the spacing options won’t appear. Your premium version definitely still has this feature; it’s just a matter of turning on the right panel.

Hello Adobe team! Did you guys happen to remove the character and letter spacing feature for text? (Particularly in the video editor)

I know you had it before because I visited this very thread a year ago. But today (Jan 31, 2026) the display looks a little different. See below.

Wondering if this was an intentional UI change or a bug? Or maybe it moved?

Thanks so much!

Hi @ASOS, the line spacing feature is available in Adobe Express; its location in the editor window remains the same. Even for video editor, too.

Hi

@full pose

,

Welcome to the community! We're sorry to hear about the difficulties. Did you try using the other suggested browsers (Safari, Microsoft Edge, and Google Chrome) or incognito mode to see if it makes a difference?

Also, try clearing the browser's cache and cookies, and restarting the browser and try again. For more information on how to clear cache and cookies check this link- https://adobe.ly/4a5ipUF and how to use incognito mode- https://adobe.ly/4a2UzZV

If the steps above don't help, could you please share the screen recording of the issue you're seeing?

We're here to help, just need some info.

Regards,

Tarun

Hi Tarun 🙂
Thank you so much for your advice, but it's still doesn't work. I have attached missing tool from Express, but maybe Adobe remove this tool.
Thank you

Jacek
