Adobe Express most basic functions are obsolete

I'm a loyal Adobe user and I've been finding their new 'intuitive' and 'user friendly' tools really frustrating to work on. While I use photoshop, and illustrator for pretty much everything, sometimes I find it easier just to make sokme quick edits on Adobe Express or Photoshop online. However their most basic tools just lack of functionality. How is it possible that a simple bug that has been around for years like simply editing a text is so hard????? I just don't get it! The only way to effectively editing a text is to bring the layer to the top, which is time consuming, it just breaks the original design, bot overall it's just stupid. Adobe express ahs a lot of good options, I'm not gonna lie and it potential is huge. But please adobe, fix this bugs. Also, the interface should have a tool to crop the canvas instead of that horrible resiizing tool that screw up all my designs.

Hi @ARAKUINE !

This was indeed a long-standing issue on our side and I'm really sorry for all the trouble!

Just a few days ago we released a fix that should address this. While it may not cover all the usecases where there is an overlay on top of the text, it should solve most of them.

Would be so kind and try again your template/document and let us know how it goes?

If you still experience the issue, please share a copy of your template/document so we can investigate further.

Thank you and I really appreaciate your feedback.

I must agree: the most recent "improvements" in the interface are disastrous. Junky pop up slider menus overwhelm visual real estate, colors have been cut back to a bare minimum of basic offerings (custom works but is hardly the ideal place to have to start from), a layers tab that cuts off the right corner of various page sizes like poster, I could go on...

What was once a nicely streamlined, feature rich interface has been compromised with not very intuitive changes. The fx menu is schizo, for instance, requiring relaunching when trying to outline text—changing a color ends the edit session and fx must be relaunched to then scroll over to Outline and only then am I able to change width. Too many necessary clicks and scrolls to achieve what was once easier.

That's the bottom line: for what are ostensibly "improvements" to the app, the results are only half-baked. Not a great way to suggest premium to users when chaos reigns due to what appear to be untested or poorly thought out changes.

One simple example: I even can not scroll down do get accesss to my folders!!! I tried with different browsers! And who had the insane idea to program this double scrolling frames? The whole UI is not well planned.

Hi @Haggi Hug,

We're sorry to hear about this. If you're unable to scroll to the bottom, try clearing the browser's cache and cookies, restarting the browser and trying again. You can also try signing out and signing in to check if that helps.

For more information on how to clear cache and cookies check this link- https://adobe.ly/4a5ipUF and how to use incognito mode- https://adobe.ly/4a2UzZV

If you'd like to share your feedback based on the UI, please share here https://adobeexpress.uservoice.com/forums/951181-adobe-express, as this page is being monitored by our product team.

Hi @ARAKUINE

You can edit underlying text without having to move it to top. Please check https://helpx.adobe.com/express/web/troubleshoot/known-and-fixed-issues/known-issues.html ("Next steps" under the "Unable to Edit text" section).

Freefrom page cropping (or even the ability to trim the page to fit existing content) is a gap. It's on the roadmap, but I am not sure of the timelines. Thanks for your patience.

Oh my god! I just tried to edit a text with just clicking on it and bang! It worked!!!! I'm so happy the Adobe team was able to address this issue just a few days after I posted this! I'm really happy honestly.

Thanks everyone for your prompt answers!

Hey @ARAKUINE

This can be frustrating for certain. A work around that helps is lockin my layers or grouping and locking the groups.
Unlock the text layer that intend to work on and proceed.

Cheers

Hey Nate! Thanks for your reply

Yeah, I know that's the most 'effective' way to deal with it, but still it's just really frustrating. You should be able to change the text just with one click as you normally do on every design software out there. Also when you lock the layer the you lose some basic editing tools, then you have to unlock it again. It just doesn't make any sense... a couple of years ago I honestly though this was going to be fixed, but it seems no one cares. There are multiple forums and even youtube videos where people struggle with the same thing. Is it really that difficult??? Also, there should be a free crop option instead of the resizing tool, which just rearranges and upscale\downscale all the items on my design.

Hi @ARAKUINE,

First, we want to thank you for your loyalty and for using Adobe Express 😃. We truly appreciate your support and being part of our community. We understand your concerns regarding text editing and canvas resizing, and we’ve shared them with our engineering team to help improve the app.

Could you tell us which types of designs or projects these issues happen on most often? Does it occur with specific text elements or all layers, and when locking layers? Any screenshots or short recordings would help our team investigate further. Thank you again for your patience and feedback!
