All images changed on hard disk after edit in Adobe Express

I added a portrait from my hard disk to Adobe Express and edited it. I used the background removal and realized too late that part of the face was removed too. So I tried to go back to the orginial picture on my hard drive. But not only was this image changed, but all the copies as well as similar pictures on all drive locations and my social media profile images on LinkedIn and Facebook. I understand if the original image is synced but I don't understand how all versions of this image are changed as well as all similar images, even the first versions located on a network drive. Does anybody know why this happens and how to prevent it?

As all copies are affected a big part of my image library is broken now. And I did not find a way to revert it. It is a part of the face that seems like shifted so its extremly difficult to fix it manually.

Cloud sync was turned on. Now turned off.
