Arrange objects like a collage
Hello everyone,
Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything specific through Google & Co., so maybe I'll have some luck here:
Over the years, I've collected all sorts of stickers and have had the idea of sticking them onto the cover of my notebook in a collage-like manner.
Something similar to this:

Now, I could, of course, sit down for hours and try out different positions for each individual sticker until they form a unified picture without gaps or too much overlap... but theoretically, couldn't a tool from Adobe do that for me?
First, such a program would probably need to be provided with some basic data (how much space is available, how big are the individual stickers, etc.) - that's already challenging because each sticker has a different size and (organic) shape.
My idea would be to take a surface with known dimensions, for example, an A3 sheet of paper (in green?). Then I would simply place all the stickers that I want to use on that sheet. Not to form a collage, but rather to have each sticker visible on its own with a clear edge against the white paper background. If I then take a photo of that, could I give a tool the task:
"Hello application, here we have a surface of, for example, 30cm x 20cm. There are 20 objects on it. Please recognize each of these individual objects and derive their respective size from the dimensions of the background area."
Sorry, I'm a total novice in this area, but I'm trying to explain it somehow the way I would imagine the "logic" of such a program.
The second step would be something like:
"So program, now you know all 20 objects and their shape + size. I have a new, empty surface that's only 20cm x 10cm in size. Please arrange all 20 objects on this surface so that there are no gaps. The objects can overlap by 0.2cm, and you can rotate each object as necessary to achieve the result. The edges of the collage can be 'organic' and don't have to form straight lines."
Now the silly question - do tools like Adobe Express or Photoshop maybe handle such a request? Or is this already too specific and more in the realm of AI? I haven't delved much into ChatGPT or Midjourney, but could they possibly do something like this, or is it still a few years into the future: quantum computers, alien technology, etc.?
I hope you could understand this somewhat; as I said, I'm not very knowledgeable about image editing... if it should be so trivial that there are already 100 freeware tools specifically for this purpose, I would, of course, be grateful for any tips.
Thanks for the help and best regards, Matthias
