can you no longer split audio from video?

seeing this was an an option before where you could right click on a video layer on the timeline and split the audio from the video so audio has its own layer in the add audio portion? if that makes sense?

I do not see that option anymore and I would love to be able to do this so i can fine tune audio from a video im working on (like in and out fades)

when i add video to a project/timeline, the video with its audio are on the top layer but audio is not separate from video
