Clear clarification needed on commercial use of Adobe Express design assets

I am writing to inquire about the commercial use of Adobe Express design assets. I recently came across a tutorial video (https://youtu.be/-L-w-QJqWKA?si=Rjz9S2is_Q1BtRwq&t=371) on Printify's official channel that demonstrates how to create designs using Adobe Express assets for commercial purposes.

However, I have read the Adobe Express terms and conditions, which seem to prohibit commercial use. I believe there is a discrepancy between the tutorial and the terms of service.

I would greatly appreciate it if you could provide a clear explanation regarding the commercial use of Adobe Express design assets. Specifically, I would like to know if it is permissible to use these assets to create designs for products that will be sold on platforms like Printify.

Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

Yes, you can use Adobe Express design assets for commercial purposes. However, there are some important considerations:

Originality: You need to modify the provided assets to create your own unique designs. Simply using the assets as-is without any alterations is not allowed for commercial use.

Stock Assets: If you incorporate any Adobe Stock assets into your design, you must comply with the licensing terms specific to those assets. This might include crediting the original creator or purchasing a license for commercial use.

For more detailed information, you can refer to the Adobe General Terms of Use

I'm very confused about what is and is not in line with the user guidelines as the app primarily appears to primarily used for commercial purposes which are against the guidelines.

To start the app, it is required to accept the user guidelines which specifically state "4. No Commercial Use. While generative AI features are in beta, all generated output is for personal use only and cannot be used commercially."

This is confusing to me because the welcome page states the main use cases of Express which are primarilly commercial uses.

Is it only part of the Express app that can't be used for commercial purposes? Is the whole app supposed to not be used for commercial purposes and is entirely a preview marked for uses it can't currently be used for?

It's only the Firefly generative AI that cannot be used commercially. So, that's the Text 2 Image and Text Effects specifically at the moment. Everything else you cna use for commercial purposes. It's right at the end of this Help page.

Can I share designs that use Adobe Firefly generative AI for commercial use?

Images created with Adobe Firefly generative AI can’t currently be used for commercial purposes.

I haven't seen this one explicitly answered anywhere so I'm asking it here. I need to create designs in Adobe Express and I need to use several images from the stock, provided by Express, to create the designs. I then need to print these designs on different things and sell the things. Is that allowed with Adobe Express's premium license?

Hi,

could someone tell me if we can use the logos we design in adobe express for commercial purposes ? Because on the adobe website, they say we can't but then why enabling us to design logos? I'm really confused. I publish my own books and I would  have liked to design a logo going with my penname and put in on my books. Is that not possible?

thank you!

Hi @Marine,

Thanks for joining the Adobe Express Community!

Adobe Express can be used for business purposes like any other Adobe product.

The offered Adobe assets (designs/shapes/logos) are Adobe property. To create your own work for profit, you must modify them.

For additional information, please refer to this article: Adobe General Terms of Use.

Thank you very much for your answer!

Does it mean that I can use them for commercial purposes if for example I put several together, add text and change colouring to create an original logo?

Hi @Liza

Welcome to the Adobe Express Community!!

You can use Adobe Express for commercial purposes, just like any other Adobe product.

The Adobe assets (designs/shapes), as they are provided, are Adobe property. You must alter them to produce your own work for commercial purposes.

Please check this article for more info: Adobe General Terms of Use.

Hi there!

I have been using Adobe for quite sometime now, and had a general question in regards to using graphics I have made in Creative Cloud Express to put into client videos for YouTube and other soical media platforms.

From my research and going through community posts everything seems to be free of use, BUT am I able to insert graphics I have made in Adobe CC Express into a video for my clients without an speical licenses?

I made a simple graphic using some of the icons/shapes using Adobe CCExp and wanted to make sure that I did not need a speical license for it.

Any solid answer would be awesome! Thank you!

Hi Chris,

Thank you for reaching out. Seems you want to use the graphics for commercial use. If yes, then commercial use and in products should be ok. The only factor would be the licensing terms of any stock assets you use in your design. Here's more information if you use Adobe Stock assets:

You may refer to this link: https://www.adobe.com/in/legal/permissions/image-notice.html for more information. Feel free to reach out to us for any queries.

Thanks

I did not pull anything from Adobe Stock, I only pulled from CC Express and
used the shapes tool.

Do I need any licenses for those? I ended up talking to someone on the live
chat function and they said it was good to go.

Are all graphics from adobe express or illustrator free to use for commercial usage? I'm looking to print it t-shirts and sell them. Are there any restrictions?

https://stock.adobe.com/license-terms

There it says this:

With a Standard license, you may not:

  • Distribute the stand-alone file.
  • Create merchandise, templates, or other products for resale or distribution where the primary value of the product is associated with the asset itself. For example, you can't use the asset to create a poster, t-shirt, or coffee mug that someone would buy specifically because of the asset printed on it.
  • Transfer the license to more than one employer or client, unless separately licensed for each.

Lets say im planning to use a stock graphic next to a text on a t-shirt. I cant really tell if somebody would buy it just from the text or because of the stock graphic. Is this still fine?
