When replacing a title image from Express webpage template or creating my own webpage from scratch. Image appears when uploading or selecting a photo. When I click preview or publish, the text appears but imagery is replaced with dark grey background.

I’m using Express in Chrome Browser on my Macbook Air. Attaching design screenshot and preview screenshot. I’ve tried closing browser and re-opening and issue persists.

UPDATE: I just added more content to the project (images, text, glideshow) and preview is now working as expected. Mystery but happy it working.

Hi @sakilisky,

I'm sorry you're experiencing this issue. I understand how concerning it is when your webpage looks correct while editing, but the title image disappears and is replaced with a dark gray background in Preview or after publishing.

To help us investigate, could you please share a few additional details?

  • Does this happen with all webpage projects or only a specific webpage?
  • Is the issue occurring with a particular image, or does it happen with any image you upload?
  • Are the images stored locally on your Mac or coming from Creative Cloud/Libraries?
  • Have you tried previewing or publishing the webpage in another browser (such as Safari) to see if the same behavior occurs?
  • What image format are you using (JPG, PNG, HEIC, etc.)?

In the meantime, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  • Replace the hero image with a different image and check whether it appears in Preview.
  • Remove the current title image and re-upload it.

Regards,

Tarun

  1. This happens with all webpage projects. It doesn’t matter if I choose a template or start from scratch. I can replicate the issue on my desktop using Express in Chrome as well as mobile on my iPhone.
  2. I’ve tried multiple images and the issue persists whether I upload a photo or choose a photo included with Express.
  3. The image uploaded is stored locally on my Mac. I do not use CC Libraries for my projects.
  4. I have tried previewing in Safari and Edge and issue still occurs. When I published from Chrome the link generated displayed images without any issues, which adds additional steps and time but at least is a temp workaround for Preview not working.
  5. I’ve tried PNG and JPEG images and issue persists with both.
  6. I’ve tried both troubleshooting suggestions and the issue still persists.
