Custom Animation

At one point I thought I recall seeing an option to make my own animation...did I dream this up? I'm looking for a way to simply have an object slide up from a specific point to another point over time. The built in animations can't get me to what I'm looking for as they are limited to the distance and fading settings in the "Drift", "Drop", "Rise" or "Slide" presets which only allow customizing the timing and "personality" of the animation. Is there another way to do this? Thank you in advance!
