Yeah, a distribute option would be helpful.

In the meantime, you can use smart guides and Layout options to help. For example, say you have 3 triangles that you want to be equidistant from each other. You could click on Layout and select the 3 column layout. Then drag each triangle to the center of its column which would snap and be indicated by the dotted smart guide. After you've aligned the shapes, then you can click back on the Simple layout.
