Generative AI image Consistancy

Hello creators!

so i'm trying this generative AI to make pictures for instagram post. this post is 5-6 pictures telling a joke basically.

the issue is that i am not able to make edits to image once generated. once i like an image, to progress the story i have to make edits in the image withour changing the main characters. but if i change the prompt everything changes 😞 

Has anyone faced this? How to fix?
