How to create split layout without cropping image

Is there a way to create a split layout while making a webpage without cropping the image? I need the whole image to be visible but want to have the accompanying text on the side due to the length of the image. I don't mind if the whole image isn't visible at once on the display but want the whole image to be availible as the viewer scrolls.
