how to make internal image transparent through all layers

Making a logo in Adobe Express Premium, (see the regular logo). I want everything that is black to be transparent. I can make the background transparent, but when I make the black mask transparent, then the other shapes behind it show. Is there anyway to make the transparent mask cut through all layers? Does that make sense?
