Refreshing Social Media Connections Becoming More Frequent?

Is it just me, or does it seem like we are all having to refresh social media page connections through Express more often??

Could anything also be done to extend how long connection tokens last before needing to refresh them?

Before using Express, I was using Postfity for social media content management, and I only had to refresh connections every 3 months or so - but with Express, I seem to be forced to refresh them once a month, but it seems more frequent than that, as I will get warnings come up saying my current tokens expire in 11/12 days, but despite that I have to refresh them immediately in order to ocntinue publishing....

Also, could something be done where (again, like Postfity) all connections on a single channel (i.e. Facebook, LinkedIn) can be refreshed in one go, rather than having to go through them individually?

The constant token refreshing is becoming a bit of a pain in the backside, if I'm honest!!

Hi @MartinBarnesCreative,

Thanks for reaching out! We're sorry to hear about this. To assist you better, can you please answer a few questions below-

  1. Which platform(s) are you seeing this behavior with — Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X, or others?
  2. Does the disconnect happen immediately after publishing, or randomly while working in Express?
  3. Are you using multiple devices or browsers to publish content?
  4. Have you recently changed passwords or permissions on any of the connected social accounts?

Regards,

Tarun

Hi @Tarun Saini,

The problem persists with all my Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn connections - I don't have other platforms connected.

I respect that every so often tokens and connections need refreshing for security; but when it tells me I have X number of days left before expiration, I actually can't publish further unless I refresh the tokens there and then - this is not really helpful for when I schedule content for publishing while I am away for longer periods of time e.g. on holiday.

Even then after refreshing the tokens, there is still the occasional unexplained issue that prevents odd posts from being published.

I only publish content from one device and browser (my iMac, through Chrome), and none of the login credentials for the connected accounts have changed.

A bit of user feedback here would be that rather than suddenly giving us the existing warning of "the token expirex in x days", Express tells us on what date the token will expire, so that in the case of being away form longer, tokens can be refreshed sooner...  Or setting it up so each token lasts longer than they currently do???
