Slideshow image transitions

Hi, first time using Adobe Slidehsow but I can't find a way to transition between still images. Yes I can animate, blur etc each slide but how do you control the transitions and timing BETWEEN slide and add fades / wipes etc. I also want to add text on some slides but I think I've got that covered.

I set up a non standard size 1344 x 768 so I cannot use the Video option as this only gives me widescreen and square.
