Uploaded Graphics Quality

Hi! I'm trying to upload some patterns & other small brand pngs and whenever I add them to my brand they come in blurry and have an outline around the graphics. I've tried AI, PNG, SVG.. it doesn't seem to matter and some of my logos & graphics seem to be flattened and look pixelated inside of express beta at any size. Is there a certain way I should be saving them to be imported at a better quality?

I made an 8.5x11 pdf and imported that to the files and am able to copy and paste my elements as shapes now. Not a good fix, but good enough to carry on. I'd like the ability to add my own shapes to my brand though and not have every graphic I import be compressed to an unusable quality!
