When downloading a PDF (PDF Standard) from Adobe Express with "Add accessibility tags" enabled, image alt text doesn't seem to be carrying over to the exported file.

A few questions:

  1. Should Express automatically pull alt text from the source file, or is there a place within Express to manually add it before export?
  2. Is there a way to set reading order and assign an H1 heading directly in Express, or does that need to be done in Acrobat after export?

Thanks in advance!

    Hi @Thao Nguyen | She, Her !

Thank you so much for your patience while I checked with our team on this!

    To answer your questions directly:

    1. Alt text on export: Adobe Express doesn't currently support carrying image alt text through to exported PDFs. This is a known gap and I'm happy to confirm it's on our roadmap, though I don't have a specific timeline to share just yet. 😊
    2. Reading order and heading structure: As you suspected, this isn't available within Express at the moment. The recommended workflow is to export with accessibility tags enabled and then use Acrobat Pro to set reading order and assign heading structure.

We'll update the community when there's more to share on the alt text front. Really appreciate you raising this - accessibility is important and this kind of feedback helps us prioritize.
