Question

Why can't I download to PDF from Adobe Express

I currently cannot download to PDF from Adobe Express which is very frustrating.

It says

I thought it was maybe because my document was too large, however, I tried with projects I have previous been able to download and now they won’t download to PDF either. I can however, download to image files, but that is not what I need.

I have also tried fixes I found on previous posts and online, such as clearing my cookies, caches, trying an inprivate window and none of these have worked.

I also tried creating a new project with just one line of text in it and that wouldn’t download either.

Please can someone suggest a real solution.

Thanks

Thank you for coming back to me, I have raised a ticket with our ICT department.

Hi @fierce_Dream67ba! thank you for the thorough testing; you've actually done the hard part already. The fact that image downloads work but PDF specifically fails, across old projects and even a brand-new one-line document, tells us this isn't your file or really your connection despite what the error says - it's something in the PDF export path itself.

A couple of quick things to check first, then I want to get this looked at properly:

    • Are you on Express in a web browser or the desktop/mobile app? (and which browser, if web)

    • Does PDF export fail every single time, or does it ever get partway before the error?

    • Roughly when did it start - was there a day it worked and then stopped?

Since you've already cleared the usual suspects (cache, cookies, incognito, small test file), the most useful next step is a HAR file captured while the PDF download fails - it shows exactly where the export request is breaking, which is what the team needs to see past that generic "network error" message: https://helpx.adobe.com/enterprise/kb/generate-har-file.html

Send that plus the answers above and I'll get it in front of the right people!

    Hi Rose,

    Thank you for your response.

I am using Adobe Express via Creative Cloud on a web browser - Edge to be precise, I don’t have any other options as our ICT only allow Edge as a browser.

The PDF export fails every time when I ask it to download as PDF for printing.it fails immediately, when I ask it to download standard PDF it gets to 23% and fails.

I only noticed it started yesterday, because that was the first day I tried to download a poster I had been working on for a few days.

The only other issue is that Creative Cloud is not updating and I get this message, so I don’t know if that is causing the problem.

I think the updates are only for photoshop though so it doesn’t matter to me because I don’t use that.

I have attached the HAR file as requested.

    Hi @fierce_Dream67ba,

Thank you - that HAR pinpointed it, and the good news is it doesn't seem to be a bug or a problem with your file.

Your organization's network security (Zscaler) is blocking one connection that Express needs to finish a PDF export. Everything else works, which is why only PDF fails. Your IT/ICT team can fix this, quickly, I hope!

    What to send them:

→ Zscaler is blocking requests to senseicore-ew1.adobe.io, which breaks Express PDF export
→ Please allowlist the Adobe Express domains listed here → https://helpx.adobe.com/au/business/enterprise/manage-services/configure-services/network-endpoints.html

This is probably also behind the Creative Cloud "Error Code 191" you saw...

Once they allowlist those domains, PDF export should work right away. If it still fails after that, come back and we'll take another look.
