Adobe Substance 3D Assets - 3D Player

Adobe Substance 3D Assets (formerly Substance Source) includes options to discover assets via 2D images or 3D Player - the 3D Player does not include any 3d navigation controls, e.g. viewport tumble, light position, etc.

Why is the 3D Player indicated as a 3D viewer if the tool does not actually support 3D navigation?

Hi @cjwidd

Historically we used an OpenGL 3D viewer but we noticed quality, most important parameters on those premium assets in our opinion, was not as good as expected

This new dynamic texture generator where you can play with all the exposed parameters was in our opinion the best move we could make to improve the overall experience. The quality is way better and the rendering way faster than before.

At some point it is planned to add environement rotation so we can change the lightning on the texture.

In the mean time I agree with you, 3D Player naming should evolve and I think we'll move it in Cloud Player

Hope this answers helps you to have a better understanding or our choices 🙂
