Cannot drag texture onto base color in fill layer

I create a new fill layer. I import my texture map into the textures shelf, and then click and drag the texture to the fill layer - I do not get the green icon with a plus sign. Instead, I get a forbidden icon and am unable to drop my texture into the base color of my fill layer. What could be causing this problem?

Hi @Cheryl339057456tzw - does that happen to you inside Substance Painter ? Or another app? Please let me know so I can send you to the right forum board, as on the 3D Assets board unfortunately we will not be able to help you, but I can send you to my colleagues
