3D viewport inverted zoom

I'm having a weird issue where only the 3D viewport has inverted zoom. 2D and graph zooms work as usual, but 3D is inverted. Any soulution to make them all zoom the same way?

Hi,

I was just about to report this very same issue, but stumbled across this post which looks to be a few months old now. I was wondering if you had an update on when this would be addressed, or if it's even something that's currently flagged to be fixed by the devs. It's one of those things that's really irritating to deal with, and was hoping it would have been resolved by now.

It's somewhat baffling if this was a behaviour that was implemented intentionally, as I've never come across anything like it before regarding navigation. As a user if this is behaviour devs want to have as a feature, I would really appreaciate having something along the lines of  'Invert zoom in 3d views' and 'Invert zoom in 2d views' as options under preferences.

Hello,

You may be happy to see that in our latest release, version 11.3.0, we made zooming with Alt+RMB consistent across all viewports. The zooming behaviour is now the following:

  • Hold Alt+RMB and drag up: Zoom out/Push away
  • Hold Alt+RMB and drag down: Zoom in/Pull closer
  • Mouse wheel up: Zoom in
  • Mouse wheel down: Zoom out

The Invert zoom in views option in the General section of the Preferences is still global, which means all these mapping will be inverted in all viewports.

Best regards.

Hello @Savo Lipa!

Indeed, in our latest release we reversed the 3D View's zoom direction in the case of a mouse drag. This change aims to bring consistency with the other applications in the Substance 3D collection.

Best regards.

Hello @Luca Giarrizzo

But it doesn't make sense. If I am correct all other apps have zoom that behaves the same way in 2D and 3D view.
And it's not intuitive that you use one Mouse Drag Direction for zoom in 2D view and Graph view, and other direction for 3D view.
It would be nice, at least, to have an option to choose how we want it to be set. So please, address it in the future.

All the best,
Savo

Does checking (or unchecking) Preferences > General > "Invert Zoom in Views" then clicking OK and closing and restarting Designer correct the issue?

Unfortunately no. Already tried it few times, but nothing.
