Can I Export an Animatable Texture from Designer?

What part of the amazing animated wood tile texture can be done in Designer? Can you array tiles over another mesh in Designer or export animatable textures? It seems to be showing something that Designer doesn't do; I hope I'm wrong.

Hello @Raymond5C2B,

You can't animate SBSARs directly in the application, but it is possible in MODO, 3DS Max or the Substance Player. I know you can also add keyframes to SBSAR parameters in C4D, which is probably the most convenient workflow (never tried it myself though).

Correct me if I'm wrong. Designer is not intended to create an array of hexagons over any object and give the proper controls for oscilating the movement; Designer just made the wood texture that ended up on those tiles.

You can perfectly create those hexagon tiles (in addition of the wood) via a height map built in Designer, and apply the material on a sphere. I'm pretty sure the material shown in the video is 100% made in Designer (wood and hexagons).

In fact, here's a pretty simple example of a similar behavior I just made with a few nodes.

Considering you can add keyframes to Designer's materials in C4D, it should also be possible to achieve a similar animation as the one from the video.
