Cell size control

Can you please share more details about which node you are using, what you mean by cell size and how the grayscale map should control it?

For example, the Tile Sampler node lets you use a grayscale image to control the size of shapes, using the Scale Map input connector. If you want to control the size of the grid used to scatter shapes, that may involve a more complex setup.
