Whivh App do you start the 3D model process - Designer or Modeler? I want to create product concepts in 3D then fully render them then insert them into video

Great question. If Substance 3D Designer has modeling tools, those are a bit more dedicated to specific use (procedural modeling) and demand a solid comprehension of Substance Designer. 

 

For the use you described here, Substance 3D Modeler definitely seems like a better fit. It is entirely dedicated to modeling and probably easier to learn.

 

Here is a serie of tutorial videos about the first steps with Substance 3D Modeler.
