How to rename library folders

I have a library of assets that I've built up over time, and it's become a bit unweildy so I decided it would be good to restructure. I tried to rename a folder in the project from my OSs file explorer (I use the OS folder names to narrow paths in my Library window for organization), and after 10 minutes of spamming "no" to the missing dependency popup in substance designer, I gave up and decided to come here.

Is there any way to quickly rename and relink dependencies in a substance designer project? Or is it just going to be painful?

Hello Andrew,

Unfortunately, it is impossible to relink multiple dependencies in a single operation in Designer at this time. We plan to rework the management of dependencies, and appreciate your patience in the meantime.

That being said, I strongly recommend using aliases for the directories which include assets shared by multiple projects.

This means the alias is saved in the SBS files instead of the full path, and the full path is mapped to the alias in your project file. Then, if the directories need to be renamed or moved, only the path mapped to the alias needs to be updated.

You can learn more about using aliases here, and about project settings in general here. I hope this is useful!

Best regards.
