Hello all,

We hear your requests — and those of lots of other users — for proper MaterialX support in Designer.

We have plans regarding MaterialX, we understand its importance now and in the future. The plugin was a first step, which gave us a lot of valuable insight.

As MaterialX is most often used across pipelines, we think it should be part of a larger effort, which takes time.

We appreciate your patience in the meantime!

Best regards.

The plugin you mention was for Designer 2020, which happened almost 2 years ago.

Now, I can only base myself on what I read about MaterialX on their website and of course the GitHub repository. While it definitely seems true that MaterialX added something new to Designer (see here) I also think it's fair to say that you may get a lot more results from utilizing currently available (global) standards, such as MDL.

Either way... it seems there are more plugins available, including one for Blender. I have no idea what that program is capable of doing when it comes to material design and such but... I'd start there.

Seems crazy to me that Adobe aren't making MaterialX their top priority for Designer.  Instead they cannot even keep the half-baked plugin up-to-date with their own releases. Shame.
