Hey guys please help, does anyone know why my Grayscale single-channel 16bit heightmap looks banded (has stepping) effect when I convert it to Normals in Substance Desginer?

original heightmap doesn't seem to have this stepping (at least visually) (edited)

Hello @Defonten,

Thanks for the message.

I can see in your screenshot that the map is extern to Substance 3D Designer. Make sure the original image is in 16bit depth, because switching the value in Designer won't turn it into 16bit.

@Cyril Dellenbach Hey thanks for the reply,

I do have 16bit single channel grasyscale image, so the only way I was able to find so far was to just blur it a bit with HQ blur. It;s not ideal but better than havoing those stripes all over my Normals. Thanks.
