hello

What is the most correct way to position a decal like the one in the image in Substance designer?
the mesh I want to do this on is a box.

maxresdefault.jpg (1280×720) (ytimg.com)

How can I do this with a radial gradient node?

thanks

Hello Abilio,

I hope you're doing good.

I'm not sure to fully understand what you're looking for.

The Shape Mapper suggested in the image you shared is a node that will splatter an input around a predefined shape (circle or polygon). It's a node similar to Splatter Circular, but it will also distorts the input to perfectly follow the path. Therefore this isn't really related to Decals, and I'm not sure this is what you're looking for.

Do you maybe have an example of the expected result? If you simply need to place a Decal onto a specific 3D mesh, you can use the Transformation node to move a decal on UVs, which will result on moving the decal on the 3D mesh.

Regards,

hey

What is the function of the resource: attributes - type - decal material?

another question :

Is there a way for a complex mesh fragmented by UV to have continuity just by applying a decal?

thanks

The Type parameter is mainly made for Substance 3D Painter to categorize the .SBSAR properly. By selecting "Decal Material", Painter will natively use it as a Decal.

You want to apply a Decal on 3D space? If so the 3D Planar Projection Projection should be the node you're looking for.
