Running Water Streaks Shader

Hey all,

I have a creature coming out of the sea and i want to make a running water drop/streaks shader to add to my displacement to give it that feel of water run off.

I found this from many years ago but am not sure how to make it.

Has anyone any tips or pointers on how to build such a setup?

To be fully honest, we don't have (yet?) a decent animation workflow for Substance Designer. You could use a $Time variable in Designer and use the Substance Player app to export a sequence, but this usually is a tedious (and non optimized) workflow.

Here's a very complete tutorial on the topic:

Also, some 3D applications have a Substance Plug-in that allows keyframing SBSAR parameters.

Which rendering software are you using? Depending on the software, it can be easier to build the shader directly in the rendering app. As instance, I personally worked on a project where I needed dropplets and I used a Blender addon. With Unreal Engine, you can easily find tutorials on the subject. To summarize, I'd look for more optimized alternative before going into Designer's animation.
