View in 3d Output

I am trying to only view the shape in the 3d panel below, when right clicking the View Output in 3d view has a arrow next to it showing output as the only option and unsure what I am doing wrong?

Hello @Atomic5ED1,

 

You are doing nothing wrong! When selecting the View output in 3D View option in the contextual menu, a submenu appears which lists the node's outputs. As this particular node only has one output, only one option is listed.

After selecting the output, you are prompted to select the material's usage which the output should be connected to in the 3D View.

Additionally, please note there is a shader available in the 3D View for applying a single image on a mesh without rendering any other material property (e.g. roughness, specularity, etc.).

 

In the 3D View panel, open the Materials menu. Open the submenu for the scene's material (e.g. Default) and select the Unlit option.

You may now view any image or node output in the 3D View without distracting shading. This is useful for previewing masks or raw mesh maps.

 

In the same list as the Unlit option, you may select the Adobe Standard Material to revert to the default shader, or select the Reset scene option in the 3D Views's Scene menu.
