Playback ignores edits and always starts from original beginning of audio file

I'm experiencing a critical issue when editing a podcast in Adobe Podcast.

I recorded a podcast with several colleagues that is approximately 44 minutes long. I initially uploaded the recording (attempted both WAV and MP3), and the transcription completed successfully.

However, as soon as I make any edit to the transcript or timeline (for example, deleting content from the start of the recording), playback no longer reflects the edited version. Instead, pressing play always starts from the very beginning of the original audio file, regardless of:

• Where the playhead is positioned on the timeline
• Whether content has been removed from the beginning
• Which section of the transcript I attempt to preview

The edits themselves appear to be applied correctly. For example:

• The transcript updates as expected
• Exported audio reflects the edits correctly
• Deleted sections are removed from the final export

The issue only occurs during playback within the Adobe Podcast editor. The editor seems to be locked to the beginning of the original source audio rather than the edited timeline.

Expected behaviour: Playback should begin from the current playhead position and reflect all edits made to the transcript/timeline. It should also play back wherever I ask it to from the timeline.

Actual behaviour: Playback always starts from the beginning of the original uploaded audio, making it impossible to accurately preview edits or continue editing a long recording, no matter where I’m asking it to play back based on timeline / script.

Impact: This effectively makes the editor unusable for longer recordings, as I cannot review changes or navigate the edited podcast. While exports appear correct, the inability to preview edits within the editor prevents efficient editing and quality checking.
