I am aware that the Fill Mode and Flatten Mode may appear interchangeable at first glance, but in reality, they serve vital purposes, particularly the Fill Mode, which is indispensable in numerous instances too many to enumerate. The current implementation of the Smoothing Tool is akin to a handicapped version, rendering several techniques unusable, such as the typical drafting method reminiscent of a 3D printing pen. In summary, I earnestly request modifications to the current Smoothing Tool, with at least the restoration of the Fill Mode being a priority.

Thanks for the feedback! I wanted to check if you've tried using the Flatten tool in Additive mode? It's not a 1 to 1 replacement for the old Smooth tool, but using it in conjunction with the current Smooth tool may enable some of those techniques possible again.

Thank you for your reply. I must say, these are indeed two distinct tools. The existing tool is more geared towards surface refinement, but it performs poorly when dealing with deeper depressions. The original fill mode, while it may initially produce a rougher surface appearance, is exceptionally efficient in adjusting the overall structure easily. For instance, it excels in connecting finger joints, smoothing out an object riddled with pits, or blending two adjacent objects seamlessly. In summary, I earnestly request that you consider reinstating the original fill mode; it was a highly useful feature.
